North Carolina Masons in the Revolution
Frederick G. Speidel wrote a remarkable book in 1975 that remains the definitive record of North Carolina Masons who fought and suffered in the war of independence.

Its title: North Carolina Masons in the American Revolution. Part Two is comprised of biographical sketches and includes British and Tory Masons.

Given the chance, they would ask that we remember more than names and lodges. Like rarely getting enough to eat. Endless walking. Worrying about family. Losing battles as well as winning.

It should be noted that more than a few of the following Masons were born in other countries, including France, West Indies, Ireland, Germany, Italy and England.
