Lodges celebrate their birthdays in a number of ways. Vesper 554 in Spruce Pine marked its first century in 2007 by dedicating a centennial marker along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The handsome bronze plaque and its 1,500-pound native stone rest on a raised rock wall.
